The morning belongs to the mountain.  Bond with this iconic mountain and experience a meeting of the earth and sky. Take the cableway, weather permitting,  or go on a guided hike.  The mountain’s beauty and energy will enthral you.

Walk through the Company’s Garden and the historic core, tracing colonial roots and contested pasts, and seeing the future through modern architecture interwoven with heritage sites of historical significance carefully preserved and cherished by the city.  Taste the many flavours of the people that make up this colourful city.  After all, immigrants built it, immigrants continue to add colour and flavour to it.

Take the ferry to Robben Island. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned here for 27 years – sobering, essential, unforgettable. A way to understand the past and see the future of South Africa.

The day is dedicated to immersive colour, culture and art.  The city offers plenty of this. Approach the day with open minded curiosity.  Start your day in the Bo-Kaap, where colour, spice, and resilience live side by side.

Then to the V & A Waterfront – a modern habour that hums with energy – galleries, designers, creators, musicians.  Be sure to pop into the Zeitz MOCAA, where African creativity fills vast concrete silos with bold intention. Art here is stirring and inspiring.

A full-day journey of exploration and wonderful scenery unfolds along the Cape Peninsula. Cliffs and curves along Chapman’s Peak feel cinematic. The Noordhoek beach beckons. You stand at Cape Point, where oceans collide and perspective shifts.   Everything slows down as you take in all this incredible beauty.  No photographs will ever do this place justice.

From here, you head to Boulders Beach where African penguins waddle. There are opportunities to swim with them in the warm Indian Ocean. You return sun-kissed, full, quietly awed.

Perhaps one last walk, one last coffee, one last look back at the mountain. Cape Town doesn’t say goodbye loudly.
