General Information
1. What does Peku Peku Travel do?
We design and manage bespoke African journeys from luxury safaris and cultural immersions to wellness retreats, author encounters, and food-and-wine circuits. Every itinerary is hand-crafted to reflect your passions and the stories you wish to collect along the way.
2. Can you tailor a trip to my preferences?
Absolutely. Each Peku Peku journey is personal. We take the time to understand your travel style, interests, and pace, curating an experience that feels like it was designed just for you.
3. When should I start planning my trip?
Ideally 3–6 months before travel, especially for peak safari and holiday seasons (June – September / December – January). The earlier you plan, the better the availability at our most sought-after lodges.
4. Do you arrange flights?
Yes. Both international and regional flights can be seamlessly booked through us, ensuring smooth connections between destinations.
5. Are your tours private or shared?
Most journeys are privately booked and guided, allowing for flexibility and privacy. We occasionally host intimate small-group departures for special themes such as wellness or women’s journeys.
Accommodation & Experiences
6. What type of accommodation do you use?
We work with a curated collection of boutique hotels, luxury lodges, and soulful stays chosen for their beauty, authenticity, and service excellence. We work with properties where we have formed relationships. Places that leave a mark on your heart, not just your passport.
7. Can you cater for special dietary requirements?
Yes. Our hospitality partners can accommodate vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, or allergy-specific meals. Let us know in advance.
8. Are your tours family-friendly?
Many of our experiences are ideal for multi-generational travel. We’ll adapt your itinerary and suggest properties that cater beautifully to children and older travellers alike.
9. Can I make changes to my itinerary?
Yes! Flexibility is part of our service. Once travel is confirmed, we’ll do our best to accommodate any adjustments, subject to supplier availability and cost implications.
Payments, Deposits & Cancellations
10. How do I make payment?
We accept secure bank transfers or credit card payments. Full payment details will be included with your quotation and invoice. Please note that bank changes and credit card fees are for your account.
11. Is a deposit required?
Yes. A 10-30 % non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. Unless otherwise stated. The balance is due 45–60 days prior to travel, unless otherwise stated.
12. What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations are subject to supplier conditions. Generally: 
*different rules may apply during peak travel periods – typically over the festive season and easter period*
• More than 60 days before travel → Deposit forfeit 
• 60–31 days → 50 % of total cost 
• 30 days or less → 100 % of total cost 
We recommend comprehensive travel insurance to protect your investment.
13. Do you offer travel insurance?
We strongly advise purchasing comprehensive travel insurance covering health, cancellation, and baggage. We can assist with this.
Before You Travel
14. Do I need a visa?
Visa requirements differ by nationality and destination. We offer a visa processing service. For Planning purposes, please ensure your visa application is in place at least 2 months prior to travel date. 
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended date of departure. 
15. Are vaccinations necessary?
Certain regions require or recommend vaccinations (e.g., Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A, Typhoid). Please note that it is your responsibility to check you have the right documentation and vaccination certificates valid for your travels. Consult your travel clinic before departure and share your itinerary for tailored advice.
16. What should I pack?
We’ll send you a destination-specific packing list once your booking is confirmed -if you’d like. As a guide: light, neutral clothing for safari; a warm layer for cool evenings; a hat, sunscreen, and a spirit of curiosity. Many countries in Africa have some level of modesty so pack appropriately for places that might require more modest dressing.
17. Will I have internet access while travelling?
Most lodges and hotels offer Wi-Fi, though in remote wilderness areas connectivity may be limited – part of the magic of true disconnection.
On the Ground
18. Who will meet me on arrival?
Our trusted representative or driver will personally greet you at the airport with a warm African welcome and assist you to your accommodation.
19. What type of vehicles do you use?
All vehicles are modern, air-conditioned, and fully insured. Safari vehicles are open 4x4s designed for comfort, visibility, and unforgettable wildlife moments. Photography safaris can come with an expert to help you make the most out of your equipment.
20. Are gratuities included?
Gratuities are not included in your quote, but we provide tipping guidelines to help you express appreciation to guides, drivers, and staff.
21. What happens if my flight is delayed?
Simply contact us. Our operations team and local partners monitor schedules and will adjust transfers or check-ins where possible.
During Your Journey
22. Can I make spontaneous changes or additions?
We’ll do our utmost to accommodate last-minute requests. Our team and on-ground partners are only a call or message away.
23. Is it safe to travel in Africa?
Yes. We only work with verified partners and prioritize traveller safety. If you are worried about anything, contact us. We’ll share destination-specific guidance and emergency contacts before you travel.
24. Do you offer 24-hour support?
Yes. Once your journey begins, you’ll have access to our 24/7 concierge and emergency assistance line.
25. Can I book optional activities during the trip?
Yes. Many experiences from helicopter rides, horseback riding, hot-air ballooning, shopping excursions, gallery tours, to cooking classes …. can all be added locally, subject to availability.
