We travel for many reasons.
At first, travel is often born of necessity … education, work, responsibility. We go because life asks it of us. Then, slowly, curiosity begins to whisper. Courage follows. The world grows larger than our fears, and the desire to see, feel, and experience more becomes impossible to ignore.
We travel with friends. We travel with family. We travel with those we love.
And as the seasons of our lives change, so too do the reasons we journey.
I find myself in a season that seeks connection over consumption. A season that values long conversations over hurried itineraries. A season that invites me to pause, to listen, to be present. It is a season where friendships are treasured, where sisterhood and brotherhood are sacred, and where meaningful encounters matter more than ticking destinations off a list.
It is from this place that I curate travel – for myself, for my clients, and for those fortunate enough to journey with us.
My recent travels through Zambia stirred something profound within me. No, that isn’t quite right. Zambia awakened something. Every cell in my body came alive. There were moments that left me speechless. Moments that humbled me. Moments that reminded me how astonishingly beautiful this continent is.
There was the mighty Zambezi River – ancient, powerful, life-giving. There was the stillness of the bush as we watched a leopard emerge from the shadows. The revelation that Zambia offers some of Africa’s most extraordinary water-based safari experiences, rivalling any on the continent.
And I do not say that lightly.
This remarkable country is woven together by rivers, floodplains, wetlands, and waterways that sustain breathtaking ecosystems and wildlife. Beyond the celebrated names of South Luangwa, Kafue, and Lower Zambezi lie lesser-known treasures: Kasanka, Lochinvar, Liuwa Plain, and the vast Barotse Floodplains – places where wilderness still feels wonderfully untamed.
This is, after all, the birthplace of the walking safari.
Zambia does not merely invite you to observe nature. It invites you to step into it. To feel the earth beneath your feet. To hear the warning call of a bird. To notice the scent of wild sage carried on the wind. To become part of the landscape, if only for a little while.
My most emotional moment came during a walking safari. Standing quietly on a path, I found myself in the presence of a white rhino. Not in a vehicle. Not through a lens. Face to face. Majestic. Ancient. Unhurried. Its horn untouched. Its dignity intact.
In that moment, I felt overwhelmingly fortunate – one of only a handful of people on Earth who would ever experience such a privilege.
And then came the heartbreak.
I learned that there are only twelve white rhinos remaining in all of Zambia.
Twelve.
I had seen four of them.
As I write these words, I still feel the ache of that reality. What have we allowed to happen? Yet alongside that sorrow came something else: hope. A renewed understanding of why conservation matters. Why protected areas matter. Why the people dedicating their lives to safeguarding these animals deserve our support.
We are not owners of this planet. We are its custodians. And nowhere was that truth more powerfully felt than in Zambia.
This is a country of wonder. A country of extraordinary beauty. A country that moves you.
In fact, Zambia’s tourism story is beautifully captured in a simple phrase: Zambia Moves You. It is more than a slogan; it is something you feel.
Perhaps it is no coincidence that the explorer, Dr. David Livingstone returned here again and again during his great transcontinental journeys. Livingstone, the town that bears his name, remains a gateway to adventure. His body rests in Westminster Abbey, but his heart was buried in Zambia.
There is something deeply poetic about that. His heart remained in the land that captured it. And it is easy to understand why.

If you seek culture, you will discover traditions that are vibrant, living, and woven seamlessly into everyday life. Culture here is not preserved behind glass – it is celebrated, shared, and lived.
As Zambians proudly say, “Zambia Kuchalo” – Zambia to the World. It is both an invitation and a reminder that some places deserve to be experienced, shared and celebrated far beyond their borders.

Their warmth, generosity, the quiet pride in their country. Their ability to make you feel not like a visitor, but like someone returning home.
So this is my invitation to you: come with a curious mind, an open heart; come willing to be surprised and be prepared to be moved.
Above all, come prepared to fall deeply, irrevocably in love with Zambia.
